A muddy walk does not have to end with a trail through the living room. Set up a small cleaning spot by the door, work on one paw at a time, and finish with a dry towel before your dog heads inside.
What to keep by the door
- A clean, soft towel reserved for your dog.
- Fresh lukewarm water.
- A paw-washing cup, if your dog is comfortable using one.
- A washable mat or another stable place for your dog to stand.
A towel and water are a useful starting point. A paw washer adds a contained way to work water around the paw; it is an optional tool, not something every dog must use.
A simple clean-and-dry routine
- Get everything ready first. Place the towel within reach and let your dog settle on a stable surface. Keep the process gentle and unhurried.
- Clean one paw at a time. With a damp towel, gently wipe away ordinary dirt. If using a paw-washing cup, add lukewarm water and check that the paw enters comfortably. Never force it into the cup.
- Use a gentle motion. For the PawtoLab PawClean™ Portable Paw Washer, slowly rotate the cup so the flexible silicone bristles move around the paw. Replace dirty water as needed.
- Dry before moving on. Remove the paw and gently pat it with a clean towel, including the damp fur around it. Repeat with the remaining paws.
- Reset the station. Empty and rinse the cup, let it air-dry, and clean the towel so both are ready for the next walk.
Choosing a paw washer and towel
